any of the public, parochial, and private elementary or middle schools in Franklin or
the other surrounding counties that comprise Central Ohio.
The test is NOT an entrance exam. The results are used to help determine those who will receive academically-based scholarships and grants offered by the school to its students in the 2010-2011 school year. For the 2009-2010 school year alone, St. Charles is providing more than $1 million in academic and financial aid to its students thanks to the incredible ongoing generosity of the St. Charles alumni, current and past parents, and friends!
--- 2009 - 2010 Annual Fund ---
This year’s Annual Fund is once again focused on Maintaining the Traditions of St. Charles and seeks to raise $1 million from alumni, parents of current students, and parents of SC alumni. Keep your eyes open for a second mailing which should reach mailboxes late next week. We hope you consider making a gift at whatever level you are comfortable. Besides financially supporting needy young men from every socio-economic background, our Annual Fund also supports the day-to-day operations of the school, the maintaining of the beautiful buildings and grounds of the St Charles campus, and the recruitment and retention for our deeply-committed faculty.
The school also now recognizes annual gifts of $1,250 and above by extending an invitation to The Cardinal Society. Members will receive an invitation to attend a year-end celebration. News & Upcoming Events for November
--- Have you made plans to attend the Feast of St. Charles Mass and Borromean Awards on Wednesday, Nov. 4??? ---
We invite you to commemorate the Feasts of our patron, St. Charles Borromeo, on Wednesday, November 4, 2009. Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Frederick Campbell and concelebrated by alumni and guest priests at 11:40 a.m. in the Robert C. Walter Student Commons. As always, the students, faculty and staff, parents, alumni and special guests will be on hand. The liturgy will be followed by the presentation of the school’s highest honors.
John J. Ritz ’47 will receive The Borromean Medal for Distinguished Service to St. Charles for his many years of leadership as a member of
the St. Charles Advisory Board, especially in the challenging years of the 1970s following re-introduction of the preparatory high school, in the matters of campus layout, building projects and land-use revisions. The school also recognizes his extreme generosity in working to improve the campus student parking.
The Principal’s Award for Leadership and Service to St. Charles will be presented to two honorees:
John L. Sauter ’58, to acknowledge his contributions and wise counsel on behalf of the school in his role as Development Director, Advisory Board member and Loyal Carolian. The school is especially proud of his family’s three decades of service as foster parents, making such a profound and sacrificial commitment on behalf of the neediest and most vulnerable members of the Columbus community.
Sister Margaret Hoffman, OSF, to acknowledge her considerable contributions and dedication to the school, its alumni and Columbus Catholic community. She has served nearly four decades as a high school teacher, including 18 years spent at St. Charles. The school also wishes to recognize the countless hours of personal time she has devoted to planning and organizing each of the school's community liturgies. In addition, she organizes other non-school liturgies (weddings and funerals) that take place in Mother of Mercy Chapel, mostly throughout her summer free time away from teaching.
Please come help us honor these deserving alumni and join us afterward for a light lunch reception in the Campus Theatre’s Cavello Center.
The student group Cardinals for Life, Dignity & Justice is sponsoring the inaugural presentation of the Consistent Ethic Lecture on Friday, November 20 at 8:30 a.m. in the Robert C. ---- 2009- 2010 Annual Fund News ----
This year’s Annual Fund will once again focus on Maintaining the Traditions of St. Charles and seeks to raise $1 million from alumni, parents of current students, and parents of SC alumni.
St. Charles is proud to be blessed once again with the leadership of 1982 graduate Paul Heller (Alumni Chairperson) and 1978 alumnus John Mackessy and his wife, Linda (Parents Phase).
Besides financially supporting needy young men from every socio-economic background, our Annual Fund also supports the day-to-day operations of the school, the maintaining of the beautiful buildings and grounds of the St Charles campus, and the recruitment and retention for our deeply-committed faculty.
Parents and alumni will be receiving appeal letters in the coming two weeks and invited to visit the school’s website (www.stcharlesprep.org) this weekend to view the online Annual Fund Appeal video starting on Saturday, September 5. This special video was created by SC alumnus Greg Krivicich ’75 of Marcy Design, with the help of his son, Joe, a St. Charles junior. We would also like to acknowledge 1991 alumnus Ryan Sullivan who designed and created the original AF video in 2006.
The school now recognizes annual gifts of $1,250 and above by extending an invitation to The
Cardinal Society. Members will receive an invitation to attend a year-end celebration. Please contact Development Director Mike Duffy in the Development Office by phone at 614-252-9288 ext. 20 or
by e-mail at miduffy@stcharlesprep.org for more information.
--Online Gifting an easy and convenient way to make a gift to St. Charles --
All forms of charitable support of St. Charles are deeply appreciated. Thanks to the cash gifts from our alumni and parents -- both current and past -- over 30% of our student body is receiving more than $1.3 MILLION in financial aid. The beautiful buildings and grounds and facilities on our campus also remain in top-top shape thanks to charitable giving. If you would like to begin supporting St. Charles or continue your support of SC by giving online, please direct your Web browser to our new and secure online giving page on the St. Charles Website: www.stcharlesprep.org
