Service
A Christian community is characterized by its commitment to the
service of others: to one another and to the community-at-large.
At St. Charles, concrete expression is given to this commitment
in and around the school. Weekly collections emphasize our responsibility
to the poor of the world. An annual Christmas Adopt-a-Family project
and food collections are sponsored to help the needy of the community.
The Cardinal Walk generates scholarship funds each year for fellow
St. Charles students. A required service component of the religion
curriculum involves students in service projects: tutoring youngsters,
helping out in soup kitchens, assisting the elderly and disabled,
working in hospitals, and the like. In responding to Jesus' call
for his disciples to be servants, the students realize the worthiness
of the call to serve. |
