Cardinal Christmas and Live and Silent Auctions a Success

The 25th Annual St. Charles Cardinal Christmas, held on Saturday, December 1, was a huge success! More than 600 people filled the Robert C. Walter Student Commons which was beautifully decked out in Holiday Spirit and filled with hundreds of auction items destined to be Christmas Day presents!

The evening, presented by the St. Charles Mothers Club, began with a special community Mass in Mother of Mercy Chapel followed by dinner, a raffle and silent and live auctions.

Chairwomen for this year’s event were Mary Oellermann and Kim Martin. Doug Montgomery served as “Master of Ceremonies” and Jeff Jeffers was the auctioneer-extraordinaire.

There are many special members of the St. Charles community that we would like to thank for their generosity and volunteer efforts!!

Jim Zink ’89 of The Zink Foodservice Group & Tim ’75 and Jack ’74 Ryan of Merrill Lynch served as the night’s major corporate sponsors.

Also recognized at the annual extravaganza were those who have been especially instrumental in the construction of the new Robert D. Walter West Campus: Marty and Steve Savko of Nick Savko and Sons, Inc.; Gary Bruck and Joe Sullivan of Sullivan Bruck Architects; and Matt Ferris of E.P. Ferris and Associates.

St. Charles would also like to recognize those individuals and companies who provided in-kind gifts: The Susi family and Berwick Manor Catering; Ed Evans and West Camp Press; Mike Cleary and JW Cleary Company; Jeff Jeffers and Garth’s Auctioneers and Appraisers; and Dan and Chris Tarpy.

The Cardinal Christmas is a huge undertaking by the Mothers Club. Co-Chairwomen Mary Oellermann and Kim Martin offered their appreciation to the many Mothers Club volunteers who made the event possible and such a success. Committee chairpersons included:

–Kim Martin and Megan Mooney coordinated the gift basket solicitations and preparations;
–Colleen Spees coordinated bar ticket sales;
–Beth Le Corgne and Deb Levy coordinated check-out and red lining;
–Daphne Suh and Susan Zoldak headed up data entry;
–Megan Mooney coordinated the decorations;
–Lisa Lumpe chaired the auction donations;
–Kari Teknos and Ginny Bryan coordinated reservations and table assignments;
–Pamela Sprigler handles all the event communications.
