On Friday, June 9th, St. Charles Preparatory School held its second alumni excursion to Wrigley Field in Chicago. The event invited Carolians who lived in the Windy City’s area to join Principal Jim Lower and several members of the school staff at the Chicago Cubs vs. Colorado Rockies baseball game. The group enjoyed watching the game from the same multi-level “Wrigley Rooftop” as they did at last year’s gathering on Sheffield Avenue along the first base line. Folks could watch the game from the rooftop stands or gather in the air-conditioned lower floor bar area and watch on large screen TVs while they relaxed at a table or booth.

Guests were treated to an “open bar” of wine, beer and soft drinks and a delightful unlimited buffet stocked with grilled chicken breasts, Italian beef sandwiches, Chicago style hot dogs, grilled bratwurst, hamburgers and cheeseburgers, nachos, potato chips, pasta salad, fresh fruit, salad, ice cream bars and ice cream cups and assorted cookies and brownies.

The weather was hot and sunny and everyone had a wonderful time speaking with Mr. Lower and staff, relaxing at the inside and outdoor facilities, meeting new friends and catching up with classmates. Afterward, Tom O’Neil ’13 lead the group to a local establishment where he worked, The Bar Celona, where everyone toasted St. Charles and the special camaraderie shared among its alumni and friends.

The “St. Charles Caravan” makes its next stop in Cincinnati on Sunday, July 23rd to take in a Reds vs. Miami Marlins baseball game in one of The Great American Ballpark’s private suites. Alumni from the greater-Cincy area are invited to contact Alumni Director Louis J. Fabro ’83 at [email protected] to reserve a ticket/package.
