Welcome New Mothers!
It was “standing room only” as the St. Charles Mothers Club welcomed to the Cardinal Community the moms of this year’s incoming freshman class, as well as those of young men transferring into the school. The group hosted a special reception on Thursday night (August 14th) in the Walter Student Commons that began with a greeting by Principal Jim Lower along with wine and hors d’oeuvres served by Berwick Manor.
The evening’s program was especially focused on “Everything you need to know about St. Charles, from a Mom’s perspective.” A panel of four “SC Moms” provided tips for navigating the beginning of the school year and answered questions from the attendees which ran the gamut of “what is the dress code”…. “how do I contact other families living near me to form a carpool… and “are the boys wearing ties this year?”
Answers to the most frequently asked questions last night: 1) Sperry leather shoes with white soles ARE permitted in the dress code; 2) Due to the current Covid-19 situation, the boys will NOT be required to wear ties during the school year EXCEPT when directed to on on “picture” days or when a special community event or liturgy has been scheduled; if you call the office, 3) a staff member WILL SHARE the names and contact information of others living in your same ZIP code to use to form a car pool; 4) in order to volunteer for any school activity, regardless of your group or team affiliation, you MUST complete the “Protecting God’s Children” program and be fingerprinted in the main office (by appointment).
