132 Alumni Join Carolian Fraternity at Graduation

 Congratulations to the newest members of the St. Charles fraternity of graduates!The school held its 96th Commencement Exercises in the Walter Student Commons, including the Baccalaureate Mass and granting of diplomas to 132 seniors.

 

The Class of 2022 is distinguished from many previous classes in several areas: It earned the highest scholarship total (32.5 million dollars) of any class in my seven years at St. Charles by nearly three million dollars. In fact, the per capita, first-year scholarship money earned is $12,980. This means that the typical 2022 graduate will receive nearly thirteen thousand dollars towards their first year of college.

Students have been admitted to colleges all over the country and will attend schools from the East (Boston College, Villanova, Howard) to California (Stanford, Santa Clara University, and California Lutheran) to Florida (University of Miami, Rollins, and the University of Tampa) and nearly everywhere in-between. One student will even attend college in the United Kingdom this year. In fact, 42% of the Class of 2022 will attend college outside of Ohio (another record).

❖          Our students will attend 62 different colleges all over the country (a record) and admitted to 180 others.

❖          42% of our students will attend college outside of Ohio (a record)

❖          39% of our students will attend private colleges and universities

❖          81 % of our students received an offer of admission to their top choice college

❖          95 % of our students received admission offers to their first or second choice colleges

❖          99% of our students received admission to one of their top three choice colleges

❖          10% of our students applied as Early Decision candidates

❖          92% of our students applied as Early Action candidates

❖          One student was selected to attend West Point, three students were admitted to ROTC, one student will join the Air National Guard, and one will enroll directly in the United States Marine Corps.

❖          The Class of 2022 has seen many students decide to pursue their passion for their sport at the next level. We will have two students swimming, one playing lacrosse, and one golf at the Division 1 level. We will have another 9 students playing athletics at the Division 2 and 3 levels.

❖          St. Charles has entered into agreements with two Catholic colleges where students may attend tuition free if qualified (Walsh University and St. Francis-Fort Wayne. Three students will take advantage of these opportunities this year.

❖          One student will attend the Seminary.

❖          Several students this year received have received full scholarships (tuition+ room and board+ additional expenses like study abroad and books) from several universities. Students have won the Joyce Scholarship at Notre Dame, The Morrill Scholarship to The Ohio State University, and National Merit Scholarships to attend the University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas at Dallas.
