  • Pre-1972 College & Prep Classes Gathering for Platinum Reunion May 9th

    Fellow Carolians,

We are very pleased to announce the return of the school’s annual Platinum Reunion on Tuesday, May 9th!

Please join us for this special gathering which is open to all former students and graduates who attended St. Charles Preparatory School and The College and Seminary of St. Charles Borromeo more than 50 years ago (before 1973). We also encourage spouses to attend in honor of their deceased husbands.

“Platinum” activities begin with Mass at 11 a.m. in the Mother of Mercy Chapel and we would be honored if graduate priests would concelebrate. The liturgy will be followed by a lunch catered by Berwick Manor in the Campus Theatre's Cavello Center.

Principal Jim Lower will give a "State of the School" presentation and share news about special activities leading up to the celebration of the school’s 100th Birthday on November 4th.  A tour of the campus facilities will also be offered, including the nearly complete Frank E. Murphy '54 Convocation Center.

Please don’t let sore knees or the use of a wheelchair or walker prevent you from attending! There will be special parking at the back chapel entrance and at the Cavello Center that do not require using steps.

Lunch is complimentary, but we ask that you RSVP by Friday, May 5th.  Register by clicking HERE. You may also reach me in the St. Charles Advancement Office by e-mail at lfabro@scprep.org or by phone at 380-209-2233.

We look forward to seeing you back on campus.

    Sincerely,

    Louis J. Fabro ’83
    Director, Alumni Affairs and Communications

  • 2023 Father/Son Mass and Breakfast Biggest Ever!

A big THANK YOU to all those who helped make this year’s Father/Son Mass & Breakfast a fantastic success on Saturday, March 4, 2023.

We are especially grateful to our celebrant, Fr. Leo Connolly of Seton Parish, and our speaker, St. Charles father and retired Major League Baseball umpire, Tim Timmons.

More than 415 people were on hand for the event, including alumni, alumni fathers and current students, grandfathers and friends. In addition, there were many incoming 9th graders and 5th-8th grade boys and their fathers who are interested in learning more about the school.

The gathering included a delicious buffet breakfast prepared by Berwick Manor. At the end of the event, guests were given an opportunity to tour of the ever-more-impressive Frank E. Murphy ’54 Convocation Center as its construction continues toward a (hopeful) June completion date.

Thanks also to Sacristan Sr. Margaret Hoffman, OSF (SC faculty member), organist Will Smiley ’23, cantor Ted Welsch, Altar Server Andy Ferris '24, AV crew members Nolan Nye ’25 and Alnuel Barnum ’23,  Principal Jim Lower, Advancement Director Jaime Lawler, Michael Welsch (SC faculty member), Admissions Director Will Gruber ’06, and Advancement team members Julie Naporano (Philanthropic Advisor) and Daniel Tarpy (Planned Giving Officer).

    7. January

"I applied to some of the best schools in the country. I cannot wait to be admitted, because being enrolled there will open so many opportunities for my post-college career. I’ve always wanted to go there!

Wait, are they serious?! I did not get in?! I guess I am not smart enough to go there. Why did I take those classes then?! They do not want me. This means they do not like me. They don’t think I have what it takes to be successful there."

Does this sound familiar? How do you feel reading the word ‘rejection’. Too often students align their self-worth to admissions decisions, especially ‘rejection’.
