Campus Ministry at St. Charles Preparatory

  • A Ministry of Jesus Christ

We are foremost a ministry of Jesus Christ. He is the foundation of our school, and we incorporate His teachings into all aspects of school life. This foundation guides our students in their time at Saint Charles and inspires them as adults to live and model lives of virtue, prayer, service, justice and mercy. Instilling this faith accurately, comprehensively and joyfully is the principal responsibility and greatest privilege of our school community. Students are encouraged in their own faith journey with many opportunities for prayer and reflection whether that be in our all-school liturgies, retreats, eucharistic adoration, or morning prayer club.
In all our undertakings we are inspired by the Charisms or spiritual gifts of our patron Saint Charles of Borromeo who practiced humility, mercy and solidarity in all he did.

  • Humility

We recognize the truth of our status before God and others, giving God glory in all things. We believe that those who exalt themselves will be humbled and those who humble themselves will be exalted. Therefore, our community strives to emulate our patron who gave selflessly and without regard to status or prestige.
  • Mercy

Trusting in God’s mercy toward us, we practice the same compassion toward the marginalized. We hold central to our mission carrying out the Corporal Works of Mercy through acts of service, feeding the hungry and clothing the naked.
  • Solidarity

We establish a unity grounded in brotherhood, committing ourselves to building up the common good within and beyond our community. We privilege the principles of Catholic Social Teaching which call us to uphold the dignity of the person and the common good of society.

  • Christian Service

Students undertake Christian Service in their freshman (16 hrs), sophomore (16 hrs), and junior (24 hrs at a single project) years and are encouraged to take up leadership positions during their senior year. Our students will serve the greater Columbus community in various ways that further the mission of the church, such as tending the Shepherd’s Corner community garden, leading and participating in charity walks, tutoring elementary students, mentoring middle school students, and many more ways.
  • Celebrating Mass

As a community of faith, we gather weekly to celebrate the Mass. The Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith, and we are blessed to celebrate with most of our parish priests throughout the Diocese of Columbus. In addition to the Mass, we also will gather for stations of the cross, penance services, morning prayer, and Marian devotions. Community strengthens us and is crucial aspect of the Catholic faith and the faith life of our students.
