This year’s St. Charles Father/Son Mass & Breakfast will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022
This event is open to current students, incoming 9th graders, prospective 5th-8th grade boys, alumni, and their fathers/sons. The day’s activities will start with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in the Robert C. Walter Student Commons followed by a buffet breakfast.
The school is very excited to announce that the event’s keynote speaker will be 1977 alumnus, Marquis Miller. He is the City of Chicago’s first Chief Diversity Officer responsible for developing and implementing the City’s policies and strategies for recruiting and maintaining a workforce that reflects the diversity of Chicago’s population. Marquis is an emeritus member of the St. Charles Advisory Board and the 2014 recipient of the school’s Distinguished Alumnus Award.
He has more than twenty years of relationship development and sourcing experience, most recently as managing principal of The Business Mosaic LLC. Prior to that, Marquis was the Vice President, Field Operations for the National Minority Supplier Development Council, one of the nation’s leading corporate membership organizations that provides increased procurement and business opportunities for minority business enterprises. He also previously held the vice president and business leadership roles at S.USA Life, a subsidiary of SBLI USA Mutual Life Insurance Company, Inc., Chicago State University and the CSU Foundation, the Chicago Urban League, the United Negro College Fund, and The Ohio State University.
Marquis was two-time Ohio AA Basketball player of the Year at St. Charles who went on to play four years for The Ohio State Buckeyes and earn a BA. St. Charles retired his jersey in 2012 ceremony, the only former athlete to date to be so honored.
The breakfast is free, but you are still asked to reserve your spot(s) to ensure there is plenty of food on hand for everyone. Registrations (no later than Wednesday, April 21st, please!) are required and attendance is limited to the first 325 people who sign up. Click HERE to visit our SignUp Genius registration site.
Please contact the school’s Alumni and Communications Director, Louis J. Fabro ’83 at [email protected], with any questions. We hope you can join us for this special tradition!
