Scholarship and Aid

St. Charles was founded in 1923 with the mission to serve all families in central Ohio seeking a Catholic all-boys college preparatory education. Today, we are still committed to assisting families financially to make a St. Charles education a reality. Each year, our students receive over $1.8 million dollars in scholarship and tuition assistance from the St. Charles Endowment Fund and our generous benefactors. This fund is generously supported by our many alumni, families, and friends. Below are the scholarship and financial assistance avenues available to prospective families:

  • Academic Scholarships

    Each year, St. Charles offers a scholarship test to incoming freshmen. This year the scholarship test will be administered on the following dates:  
    January 30, 2027: 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. in the Walter Student Commons.
    February 7, 2027: 1:00 p.m. in the Cavello Center.

    There are several four-year scholarships awarded in three tiers based on the results of this national assessment. St. Charles uses the High School Placement Test. Students must apply for enrollment prior to participating. 
  • State of Ohio Scholarships: EdChoice

    2026-27 State Scholarships
    If your son would attend one of the following public high schools, you might be eligible for the 2026-2027 ODEW EdChoice Traditional Program which provides $8,408 for tuition assistance. Otherwise, apply for the Expansion Program.

    Families who reside outside of any of the above school districts are eligible for EdChoice Expansion scholarships ranging from $840.80 to $8,408 based on household income.

  • Charism Scholarships

    These awards are grants for students who have exemplified the values of our school or qualities of the school's patron saint, Saint Charles Borromeo, in their daily lives. Students will come to St. Charles to write their essay during one of the following dates in the Cavello Center.

    January 27, 2027: 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
    January 30, 2027: 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.
    February 7, 2027: 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.

    This opportunity will award a minimum of one grant to a student from each Catholic parish in Central Ohio. Students must apply for enrollment prior to participating.
  • Outside Scholarships

    Many organizations and foundations offer scholarships to high school students including the Catholic Foundation  and the Columbus Foundation. Please reach out to the individual organizations for scholarship opportunities.  
  • SCRIP: Raise Right Program

    SCRIP / Raise Right Program
    The St. Charles Scrip program is a great way to lower your tuition bill by purchasing gift cards and receiving a portion of the purchase price as a tuition credit.
     
    It’s easy to sign up!
    1) Go to https://www.raiseright.com/
    2) Click “Register”
    3) Click “Join a Raise Right Program”
    4) Enter the St. Charles enrollment code: C56554A34L1L
     
    Orders are placed weekly on Mondays for physical gift cards or can be done at your convenience for eGift or reload cards.

  • Tuiton Assistance

    All families enrolled at St. Charles are strongly encouraged to complete the grant aid application found HERE. For consideration for assistance from the Diocese of Columbus, applications must be submitted online with the FACTS Management company by March 15, 2026. Applications for tuition assistance for the 2026-27 school year opened November 1, 2025.

    Payment Options Available: Full payment, Two payment or Ten month payment plan.
