St. Charles Preparatory School is proud to announce that twelve members of its senior class have received special recognition from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Two students were named 2027 National Merit Semifinalists and eight others were named Commended Scholars. These young men qualified for the National Merit Scholarship program by recording the highest scores of all high school students on the Pre-Scholastic Aptitude/National Merit Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) they took last year as St. Charles juniors.

Less than 1% of all US high school seniors who took the test, 16,000 students in all, earned semifinalist status. National Merit officials expect more than 15,000 semifinalists to advance to finalist standing. About half of the finalists ultimately will receive a National Merit Scholarship and earn the title of Merit Scholar.
